Executive

Erica Veil, Executive Director

Professional background: Marketing and communications for professional services companies; Certified project manager and Senior business analyst for IT development. Living life as an artist since the demise of Arthur Andersen (2002) until the start of this project (January 2015).
Reason for joining the team / connection to the story: This started as a project to write my great-great-grandfather’s (Colonel Thomas J. Kelly) biography, and it has mushroomed into a much larger project: to write the story of The Irish Fight for Freedom, from 1833 to present day, from a global perspective.
Role on the team + within the program: Executive Director
My connection to Ireland: First visit was in 2005, when I met the woman who inherited the family interests from the last Kelly to live in the family compound
Visits to Ireland: 2017-2019 for graduate work and for 150-year commemorations and Euro Heritage Week events. Ireland is  remembering  the people behind the many risings that led up to the successful Rising of 1916.

Professional background: Ph.D Applied Mathematics; Chief Science Officer; Professor of Natural Science, Computer Science, and Cognitive Science; Director of Information Technology and Web Science (ITWS)
Reason for joining the team / connection to the story: I was witness for much of how this project started, developed, and mushroomed  since January 2015.
Role on the team + within the program: Grant Proposal and Technical Infrastructure Consultant
My connection to Ireland: I am a citizen and have immediate family in north County Dublin
My visits to Ireland are numerous: most recently 2017 for 150-year commemorations in Mountbellew and Euro Heritage Week events, 2018, and 2019 (Limerick and Galway).

My connection to Ireland: Collateral descendant of Capt. Timothy Deasy, County Cork
